*Now accepting new clients in Ames!* I’m Cassie, a licensed Mental Health Counselor with a specialization in Art Therapy. I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to counseling, and like to encourage artmaking in session. Creating in session is not a requirement. However, using art materials in therapy offers a chance to actively process what we talk about, and engages the brain and body in our therapeutic work.
I obtained my master's in art therapy and counseling from Southwestern College and New Eart Institue in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have worked with children and families for 7 years in behavioral health settings. I am a client-centered therapist trained in CBT, EMDR, PCIT, level 1 of Theraplay, and utilizes art as therapy. I have experience working with children, families and adults with a variety of needs. My experiences range from trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, and years of experience with neurodiverse population.
My goal is to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship in order to support you in your journey towards healing and understanding. Meeting you with compassion, authenticity and creativity. My passion is to support and meet you where you are at and finding and befriending your best sense of self.
