I am a Licenced Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois, and a National Certified Counselor. My goal is to help my clients become their best selves. I use client-centered treatment methods ranging from solution-focused and family systems approaches, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral techniques, to dream analysis, utilizing the appropriate approach(es) for each individual.
My therapy experiences have involved working with adults, couples, children and families with a variety of issues. These have included ADHD, adjustment concerns, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, anger management, trauma recovery, divorce recovery, premarital counseling, addiction recovery, and family dynamics, among others.
I earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education in 2007.
Before coming to Red Couch Counseling, I spent three and a half years working in an outpatient therapy setting in Illinois. I also have experience providing crisis assessments and inpatient liaison services as a part of a crisis team. In addition, I completed an internship providing individual and family therapy for clients under the age of 18 as a part of my Master's degree program. From 2007 through 2013, I was a middle school English teacher in the Illinois public school system.
