Carol M. Hanson LMSW is located at our Ankeny office.
Welcome! I bring over 20 years of social work experience to my practice with a background in child welfare and medical social work. My most recent experience was in California at a community health clinic where I provided therapy to people from all backgrounds, some with complex medical and/or mental health conditions. I also have 15 years experience working with children and families involved in child welfare. My areas of specialization include trauma recovery, anxiety and depression, foster care/adoption support, domestic violence, and relationship issues. I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages, LGBTQIA+ individuals, those in substance use recovery, and people with intellectual or other disabilities.
Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I help clients process trauma, challenge negative thoughts, set goals, and develop effective coping skills.
I believe there are many paths to mental wellness, and I consider it a privilege to partner with you on your healing journey.
