Amy Blessing

Amy Blessing MSW, LISW, CSW-G is located at our Ankeny office.

Immediate Openings! I’m Amy, a licensed Independent Social Worker. I became a therapist because I understand firsthand how overwhelming mental health challenges can be, as well as how meaningful it is to have a therapist with whom you can feel safe to process emotions, learn, grow, and heal. Using a holistic approach, I provide person-centered, affirming, collaborative therapy to adults aged 18 and up for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotional intensity, trauma (Big T's and little T's) grief, loss, chronic illness and pain, life transitions, adjustment disorders, and relationship issues.  Populations of special clinical interest and scholarly research include adults, caregivers, LGBTQ+ folks.

Following an extensive career in non-profit mental health and disability support services, I bring experience, authenticity, and compassion to our sessions. Humor helps, too! Evidence-based treatment modalities we may explore and tailor to meet goals you identify include Narrative Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and emotional regulation skills development using components of the STEPPS / Skills Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem-Solving curriculum, elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) / parts work, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Somatic Trauma Healing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy / ACT,  art and poetry practices, and some effective and accessible mindfulness practices. There are so many options to explore! Is it time for you to find your safe space and take the next step forward?  I'm here, accepting new clients, and looking forward to getting to know you - it’s truly an honor to support you - and to help you support yourself - on your journey. Hope to see you soon!
